It all started today….

Front of house, day one – shrubs all gone!

Today is day 1 of our latest rennovation project. The weather was perfect so maybe a good omen for settled weather as the house gets opened up for recladding.

We weren’t sure what we’d find when we got home as first task on the builder’s list was to remove all the shrubs around the front of the house, cut away the concrete ramp to the front door and start digging holes for the posts for the new entranceway.

Things don’t always go as planned, with the digger breaking down on another job and not making it on site. The trees did come down making the  place look very bare. Plus some demolishing started.

It has given us another day breathing space to remove a few more things from the bedroom before we lose easy access to the front door and the container we’re storing stuff in while the house is in turmoil.

Tomorrow’s forecast is looking good, fingers crossed that the digger makes it here as not much can happen until the foundation is laid.

It all starts this week

Now

The builder is set to start on Wednesday, but still lots to do before then.

We’d planned this weekend away before the start date had been decided. Nice to have a relaxing weekend but we’ll be busy when we get back tomorrow.

Gardener organised to rescue the plants in the front garden before the scaffolding gets set up. Hopefully carpet was lifted in our master bedroom this morning.

Still more sorting of belongings to happen, want to try and cull and release things we don’t really need.

Now need to make decisions on tiles, fittings, vanity, front door….and it goes on.

Fast becoming real

After months of designing and planning our next renovation it has become very real. I’ve had to put aside the desire to get started after Xmas to take advantage of a gap in our builder’s schedule starting next week.

The end result should be amazing, but there’s a bit to happen before that becomes our reality.

So busy unpacking our “life” and moving out of our bedroom so they can create a fabulous new ensuite and walk in wardrobe. There’s a domino effect going on where to enable that move we have to de-clutter other parts of the house. Having been busy finding treasures and “releasing” some things we no longer need. The container on the driveway where we are storing some of the things that just won’t fit elsewhere is a reminder of the new reality
